The tanpura cycle is defined by the timing used by the «digital player» for plucking the strings. You can define it as you wish:

Define the duration in seconds between each string, such as it is shown below.

The duration of the tanpura cycle is the sum of all durations (5.7 seconds in the example)

The automatic fluctuation helps to improve the digital player’s realism by adding small fluctuations in the cycle. The value zero disables the fluctuation.
